The SCOAF decided to put their walking shoes on, get out in the fresh air and raise some money for charity by taking part in the Mega Miles Challenge.

The Mega Miles Challenge is a charity walk event which aimed to raise money for The Charity for Civil Servants which took place in May 2024. It was an opportunity for the SCOAF team to join a community of people walking to help support fellow colleagues going through tough times. The walk took place during lunch time.

The walk took place on 30 May 2024 and the whole SCOAF team were invited to participate in a walk through the Royal Parks of London.

There were three route options they could choose from 3km, 5km and 7km walks. All three walks started in St James Park and finished in Hyde Park. The whole team were able to complete the 7km route.

The route took the team through some of the most iconic landmarks of London including Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park Corner and The Serpentine to name a few. On the way the team had an opportunity to view some of the local wildlife located in the parks including feisty swans, pelicans and Egyptian geese!

The walk allowed the SCOAF team members to socialise and was a useful team building exercise. The total Mega Miles the SCOAF team completed was 84km.

At the end of the Mega Miles Challenge walk the team could provide a voluntary donation to the Charity for Civil Service via their website. At the time of writing this blog I can confirm the Charity for Civil Service have so far raised £ 61,720of which the SCOAF team have helped contribute to.

The walk provided the team with an opportunity to raise money for a worthwhile charity and helped the team give back to the community.
